An agile and collaborative approach
Initially, the client provided us with a detailed specification of more than 80 pages with precise requirements and all the business rules to follow. However, we knew that it was essential to go further by actively involving the users and the client throughout the project to propose an innovative solution that met the needs of the various target customers. That is why we opted for a collaborative approach of codesign and codevelopment with the client rather than a more linear process going from analysis to design and then to progressive development. With tight production deadlines and a fixed online launch date to meet, we adopted an agile methodology to analyze, develop and design almost simultaneously.
Every week, our team held a workshop with the client to review the screens to be produced and detail the analysis. Then, during the next sprint, we designed and developed the different parts of the web applications. These weekly workshops gave us a chance to receive feedback from the client and focus groups more often so that we could quickly adjust the design of the interfaces to satisfy as many customers as possible.
A fully custom development
Custom development was vital for this project. No existing solutions met all the needs of the two web applications. The client was very open to recommendations and trusted our expertise in the field. Therefore, we opted for development using Azure to design two solid, reliable, and flexible applications that can be easily and quickly scaled up or down according to the number of service points and future needs.
Our teams showed great ingenuity in finding solutions to all the requirements within the various constraints, the budget, and the tight deadlines. We are very proud to have taken part in this challenge and contributed to a wonderful project that the client enjoys!
With a team of more than 110 specialists from all fields of IT expertise, we do more than just deliver digital tools. We build scalable digital ecosystems that adapt to the changing needs of businesses and their users.
A mobilization of all our nmedian expertise
What impresses us most about the project circonflexe - Prêt-pour-bouger is that almost all of Nmédia’s expertise was mobilized: user experience (UX) strategy, copywriting, graphic design, front‑end and back‑end development, quality assurance, functional analysis, technical analysis, software architecture, project management and digital marketing. At some point, nearly 20 Nmedians collaborated on the project with the client to create these two web applications. Even our Power Platform specialists analyzed different technologies to ensure that we developed an optimal, customized solution.
A project with human values that reflect who we are
Everyone at Nmédia agrees that the project circonflexe - Prêt‑pour‑bouger perfectly reflects who we are and brings out our values: collaboration, passion, fun, responsibility and rigour. We accomplished an inspiring and meaningful project for Quebec, and this is shown in the comments of the Nmedians who were part of this success:
- “It feels good to do a project that allows you to share with the community. It’s not a project to sell something and make a profit. It’s about doing something good for Quebec. It will help society as a whole by allowing people to rent equipment free of charge for physical activity.” — Vincent Beaulieu, Digital solutions director
- “It’s inspiring to see that Quebec is organizing this to give back to the community and help it get active. We really wanted to make sport accessible to all Quebecers, no matter where they are.” — Meghan Hutchison, UX strategy team leader
- “Working on a project that touches so many people is rare. When you design interfaces that will help people across Quebec to access sport for free, it motivates you to give your best.” — Stéphanie Angers, Graphic designer
- “You can say that it’s a human mission at URLS. It’s important to have fun, and that led to a good relationship with the client, and it was a stimulating project!” — Yves Lemelin, IT project manager
